Tasting OnMyWay has now uploaded more than 200 craft beer producers in the state of California. The metropolitan areas around Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego are of course dominating. But there are many gems out there and craft beer fans should check out the ‘smaller’ cities as well as the country side for some amazing places to taste craft beer.
According to the Californian Craft Beer Association (CCBA) the Californian craft brewing industry employs 44,000 Californians accounting for over $1.7 billion in wages. In 2012 the California craft brewing industry paid more than $850 million in total taxes. In 2012 craft breweries in California contributed $4.7 billion to the California economy inclusive of all goods and services both directly and indirectly. California produces more craft beer than any other state, brewing more than 2.4 million barrels (32 gallons per barrel). The Golden State has more craft breweries and had more breweries open in 2012 (312) than any other state and 12 of the top 50 largest craft breweries by volume in the US.
And the industry continues to grow!
Tasting OnMyWay is proud to reflect this boom on our website. We also decided to highlight the ‘golden nuggets’ these special places in our social media. For a few weeks now we research and choose the “#Craftbeer brewery of the day #California” and publish it on our Twitter account. The goal of our website is not only to list all the tasting and ‘factory’ tour places in a search area but to also promote the special places and initiate interaction between producers and consumers.
Keep on tasting! Your Tasting OnMyWay team
