The wider goal of Tasting OnMyWay is to create a network around the topic tasting. For that reason we are constantly on the look-out to find products and services that improve the overall experience. So the intention of this blind tasting was also to introduce and check the usability of a new wine tasting app – Quini.
Tasting OnMyWay organised a blind wine tasting in Catania/Italy. Five wines from Sicily were on the table.
– Alessandro Di Camporeale – Kaid – Sauvignon 2011
– Donnafugata – Chiarandà – Chardonnay 2009
– Duca Di Salaparuta – Passo delle Mule – Nero D’Avola 2011
– Planeta – Eruzione 1614 – Nerello Mascalese 2011
– Tasca D’Almerita – Cygnus – Nero D’Avola/Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
Quini is a wine tasting application that helps you to understand your likes and dislikes and make wine tasting fun. Notice more. Taste more. And yes, it’s possible, enjoy wine even more. With beautiful graphics, Quini guides you through a fun and easy interactive tasting. The Quini flower describes wines by using five colourful petals.
Quini was made by people who love wine. They created a new, accessible way for people to enjoy wine, learn about tasting, develop their skills and find amazing wines through friends and recommendations. They also wanted to create an app that is good. Even revolutionary. That’s why Quini was developed with a team of experts in wine tasting, design and interactive architecture, including a wine scientist who helped design a set of criteria and descriptive terminology that ensure tasting depth and accuracy. This way, the tasting process is accessible to all, but rigorous enough to satisfy wine professionals. Besides a groundbreaking iPhone app, Quini is available as a companion iPad app and website (with Android phone and tablet versions coming soon), creating a community of wine lovers using the same language to share and learn about wines.
Blind tasting is obviously a challenge. So, based on the set up of the event we decided to combine the reviews into one Quini flower. Quini was easy to use and very intuitive. All in all a very sound experience and a new way for us to share wine reviews and finally compare apples to apples with others’ reviews. The event was a big success and we had exactly what wine tasting should be all about – FUN! Thanks Quini!
Here are a few of impressions of the afternoon/evening.
Keep on tasting! Your Tasting OnMyWay Team.
