Yesterday Tasting OnMyWay had the opportunity to do a vertical wine tasting at SciaraViva Agriturismo. We tried their 2010, 2011 and 2012 SciaraViva Anteprima. A Nerello Mascalese (autochthonous to the Mt Etna area).
SciaraViva is producing in the range of 1000 bottles per year from an area of roughly 2 hectare, but not all of it dedicated to wine. The Agriturismo also produces its own olive oil and various fruits of the season.
SciaraViva has 4 guest rooms in the historic main building of the Estate. The place has been completely renovated, maintaining the charm of the old combining it with the amenities of the new.
The wine tasting was a delight and in particular the young 2012 based on bio and organic production made a very good impression as the its potential is not yet fully exploited. The ‘champion’ of the evening was the very pleasing 2011. The wines of SciaraViva can be bought at site but also be found in restaurants in the area.
Keep tasting – the Tasting OnMyWay team!
